Our review of the Top 3 Canva Presentation Templates

In this blog, we review the top 3 Canva presentation templates. A few weeks ago, an email newsletter from Canva piqued my interest, the subject line read: Australia – Top 10 Presentation templates. After following the link and having a quick glance at all 10 templates I thought it would be a great opportunity to review and provide an overview of their top 3 templates.

Canva is a graphic design platform used to create social media graphics, presentations, posters, documents and other visual content. It was founded in 2012 by Perth based Melanie Perkins, Cliff Obrecht and Cameron Adams.

What Canva has achieved in a relatively short space of time is simply amazing. Providing a free resource for everyone around the world that is easy to use, saving time and money, and elevating the look and feel of any marketing piece.

So, without further ado, here are their top 3 presentation templates:

1. Blue and Yellow Geometric Pitch Deck Presentation – Link

Cost: Free

Total number of slides: 18

Additional resources: No

Initial impression: This is a Pitch template and my initial impression was WOW, in terms of the guidance it provides when it comes to putting together a pitch deck. If you’re ever in that position where you need to write a proposal and you’re not sure where to start, this template walks you through the process with detailed prompts, eg. Problem: List 3-5 problems your company observes and wants to solve; and Product or Service: Introduce your company’s product or service as the ultimate solution to these problems.

Ease of use: Very easy to use, just click and type. You can replace images with your own images and change the colours to make them fit with your branding.

Overall design: The overall design is quite bright, depending on the type of product or service you are offering you may need to tone it down or adapt it to fit the overall look and feel so that it works just in line with your brand. The 18 masters provide ample choices in terms of layout variations, from graphs to columns of text and everything in between. Easily adaptable to any business.

2. Brown and Orange Neutral Delicate Organic Fashion Marketing Presentation – Link

Cost: Free

Total number of slides: 15

Additional resources: No

Initial impression: While Template No. 1 was very adaptable to any business I feel that the combination of colours, shapes and fonts used in this template are more limiting and relevant to a smaller audience. Yes, the shapes can be re-coloured and the fonts can be changed, however that then implies having to test a new combination of fonts to ensure they work well together.

Ease of use: Very easy to use, just click and type. You can replace images with your own images and change the colours to make them fit with your branding. One thing to keep in mind is that this template does contain elements that sit on top of images so it may be more fiddly to get right. If you are presenting face to face and using this exact colour palette (with the beige background) ensure you test the conditions of the room where you will be presenting as the contrast may/may not be enough depending on the lighting of the room.

Overall design: A modern look reminiscent of Instagram square designs. Somewhat trickier to use I feel given the various shapes and assets that are sitting on top of the photographs, and there are less masters to select from vs. Template No. 1.

3. White Basic Presentation Template – Link

Cost: Free

Total number of slides: 13

Additional resources: No

Initial impression: A fabulous minimalist, monochromatic style presentation template, it’s very clean and tidy with lots of white space which makes reading it an absolute pleasure. Similarly to Template No.1 it offers great prompts if you’re stuck in terms of how to structure the content of your presentation.

Ease of use: Very easy to use, once again, just click and type, change the images as required and the colours if desired, although I feel that these colours can work with just about any business it would simply be a matter of adding your logo or your name and you’re ready to go.

Overall design: It’s a versatile template that would suit many businesses and users. The fonts are clean and easy to read.

If I had to rate the above templates, I would give first place to the Pitch Deck (Template No.1), second place would go to the White Basic Presentation Template (Template No.3), and finally, third place would go to the Brown and Orange Template (Template No.2).

To conclude, these templates are a great tool for anyone who is stuck on design ideas and needs to produce a presentation that looks great but isn’t held back by strict brand guidelines.
