Time to get set up for success!
Covid-19 has greatly impacted all facets of life, and in particular, the way you do business today.
Sadly, in some cases, there are businesses that have had to cease trading until further notice, while others are still fortunate enough to keep running.
For business owners still operating, now is the time to plan, be proactive and ensure you are doing something each day that will enable you to seize every business opportunity when the pandemic is over.
The government is foreseeing a gradual return to “business as usual” after a certain period of time, however, the timeframe is not clear. So, based on this, when the pandemic is over, where do you see your business after such a long uncertain period? Will your customers know what you have been doing and are you currently communicating with them?
Resilience, forward thinking, strategy and flexibility will prevail and help you succeed and reign over your competitors, when we all finally reach the light at the end of the tunnel.
If you use this period of uncertainty wisely, you will be in a much stronger position than some of your competitors moving forward. Now is the time to do all those things that you have been planning to do, but have never found the time to do, (or have not prioritised), such as;
- Social media posting
- Updating content for new brochures
- Redesigning the look and feel of your newsletters and/or website
- Putting together your brand guidelines
- Creating or updating your PowerPoint templates
Do not stop marketing your business! Even though you may feel it is a pointless exercise, remember that it can take anywhere between 3-6 months to see the results of any marketing you are doing now. That is why, while we are in the midst of the pandemic, it’s important to continue to communicate and market your business regularly.
Being consistent is the key. Uploading one post to your Facebook business page in a period of 3 months will not give your followers the impression that you are still trading and working through this challenging time. Post regularly and consistently, let your audience know what you have been doing, provide updates, offer specials, let them know how changes you’re making to the way you work could be of benefit, and share any wins with your audience and you will have a greater chance in receiving business from them (or receiving referrals) in the future.
Blogging is another fantastic way of communicating with people as is sending out newsletters, but once again, these are things that should be done consistently and kept to a schedule.
Another beneficial task to work on is making business connections and broadening your network, as this is a fantastic way of receiving new and referral business. Linkedin is a fantastic way of building your network.
Most of all now is the time to stay positive. See every task that you complete as a win! Speak to mentors, colleagues or other business owners, but choose them wisely, as you want to engage with positive people at this time. Speaking to others will reaffirm to you that you are not in this alone, and you may even pick up some tips and advice along the way.
